Welcome to the Alliance Francaise de Charlottesville!
Community involvement in our association has been steadily growing and members have been excited about all the changes.  New management, freshly updated premises, a calendar of social and cultural events promising fun, an upcoming trip to Besancon and an e-newsletter to get the word out – these are just some examples of What’s New at the AFC in 2009!  Browse our pages to learn more about our offerings and feel free to contact us for more information.  Join us and speak French, learn French, or just soak up the French Culture, right here in Charlottesville!

2009 Bastille Day Celebration!!

Venez Celebrer Avec Nous!

Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Come join your local

Alliance Francaise de Charlottesville

and its members as we celebrate

France's Independence Day.

This event will take place, rain or shine,

at the Kluge Pavillion.

(address & directions provided upon RSVP)

50% of the proceeds of this event will be donated

to the St. John Baptist of the Woods charity.

Food & refreshments for purchase at

concession stands hosted by Hot Cakes &

L'Etoile. A free commemorative tea towel is

being provided by Yves Delorme as a gift for

the first fifty families attending.

Kluge wine tastings & bottles

available for purchase.

Bring your picnic chairs and blankets

but no foods or beverages, please.

Entrance fee includes: a glass of wine, cheese sampler, parking, fun

activities for children, and live music by Jean Jacques & Betty Jo Dominick.

Members $10, General Admission $20, Children $5

Free entry for those becoming new Alliance Francaise members that day.

MEMBER IN THE SPOTLIGHT
  

Roulhac Toledano, longtime AFC board member and event hostess is a critically acclaimed author and architectural historian.  She has just published her 12TH book “François Coty: Fragrance, Power, Money” (book cover photo above), being featured now in the Virginia Festival of the Book.  Roulhac also generously contributes to historic preservation.  Over the past 20 years, she has acquired 64 condemned historical buildings in Charlottesville and New Orleans and renovated them.
